What are the benefits of taking finasteride?The most important benefit of taking 5-alpha reductase inhibitor is that it can help with the gradual, painful loss of hair that occurs with increasing age. This loss of hair means that you can have thicker, longer and healthier hair every day.
This is a very common condition, and it can be caused by a number of factors. Often, it's the result of a number of things, and some of these may make a big impact.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of finasteride on free testosterone levels and the effects of finasteride-related side effects on the ejaculation-free time. This was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, fixed-dose study in healthy male subjects. The study was performed between 18 and 45 months. Participants were randomly assigned to finasteride or placebo. Ejaculation and semen quality were assessed by the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) as well as the Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA). The average free testosterone level was calculated using the formula: the change from baseline to the last sexual intercourse of the day (D/t) = 100/90. For finasteride, the average free testosterone level was significantly reduced from D/t = -0.02 ng/dl (0.6 ± 0.06) to D/t = 0.04 ng/dl (0.7 ± 0.03) compared to baseline (p < 0.0001). In finasteride-treated groups, a significant reduction in free testosterone levels was observed (p < 0.0001). The mean free testosterone level was significantly reduced in finasteride-treated groups (1.6 ± 0.7 ng/dl) compared to baseline (p < 0.0001). For men with normal testosterone levels (normal levels of 0.6–1.2 ng/dl), finasteride significantly improved ejaculation control and improved semen quality (p < 0.0001). Results with finasteride-related side effects are in line with those of a previous study, where finasteride had a negative impact on the ejaculation and semen quality by improving the IIEF score, and also the PSA. These results indicate that finasteride is able to improve ejaculation and semen quality. The clinical relevance of these results is to suggest that the effects of finasteride may be better than those of other drugs in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia, and that a drug may improve ejaculation and semen quality.

Finasteride is a drug that inhibits the action of the enzyme 5α-reductase, which converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. The effect of finasteride on male androgen-dependent prostate enlargement has been demonstrated in animal studies [,]. Finasteride (Proscar®, Finasteride®, Finax®, Propecia®, Proscar®, and Proscar®) has been shown to decrease the prostate size in a rat model of male pattern hair loss []. Finasteride has also been shown to reduce the size of benign prostatic hyperplasia []. Finasteride is also known to have an impact on the production of testosterone in the testis. Finasteride may affect the prostate by decreasing the production of androgen hormones [,].
Generic Proscar (5mg) Tablets are used to treat male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia) in men. They have been shown to improve hair growth and slow down hair loss. This medicine is not recommended for use in women and children. Generic Proscar (5mg) Tablets contain 5mg of the active ingredient finasteride. Generic Proscar (5mg) Tablets contain 1mg of finasteride. Generic Proscar (5mg) Tablets should not be used in pregnant or lactating women.
Common side effects include decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, ejaculation disorder, and reduced semen volume. These side effects are reversible upon stopping the medicine. Generic Proscar (5mg) Tablets should not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

While rare, these symptoms require immediate medical attention. This is not a complete list of side effects associated with finasteride. Studies have shown that finasteride can increase your risk of developing breast cancer or high-grade prostate cancer, which spreads and grows more rapidly than other types of prostate cancer.
Studies have also shown that Proscar can affect the results of the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test, which may be used to detect prostate cancer. Be sure to tell your healthcare provider that you are taking finasteride so that they are aware of any medication interference with PSA testing.
Proscar is only for use in men and can cause birth defects in pregnant women. If you are breastfeeding, pregnant, or plan on becoming pregnant and touch crushed or broken Proscar tablets, you should wash your hands and call your doctor right away.
